A creation in residence of La Subterránea
Selected by Graners de Creació program
SYNOPSIS
Roba estesa is the beginning of a process that began in 2022, when La Subterranea began a residency at TEM with the goal of bringing the theater to the public. That involved
La Subterránea team in an experiential investigation based on workshops, interviews, guided visits and photographic meetings.
“The object was not the artistic production itself, but the experience that different social groups use art to occupy public space as they did”
First of all, they worked with the Santiago Apóstol’s Mothers School, and in a second phase after the summer, they focused the process on Amalia, María, Sulamita and Susi: four gypsy women, from the zones from Cabanyal, Clot and Malva-rosa, who had participated in the previous activities and that, then, professionals from different disciplines joined the artistic team of the residence.
Here is a point of the process where what interests us is the occupation of this municipal space, by the neighborhood’s residents, through their culture and image.
“We have analysed what coexistence is given in the Cabanyal and how it is possible to work from them scenically and plastically. It has been a very intense work. Both they and we have seen a human attitude that goes beyond the cultural one or of being payo or gypsy.”
